Bosch Water Heater Parts and Accessories

Bosch is a manufacturer that produces a broad range of home appliances. They have also built many types of water heater accessories and parts. If you own one of these products, it is critical to know what parts are contained in them and how they operate.

What parts are used in a water heater?

A heater uses a variety of different parts to operate. Understanding each of them is critical when you start looking for items for your heater. The exact design of the heater will vary depending on the type you own. There are two main types of water heaters:

  • Gas: A gas heater will have a pilot light and an area where gas is stored. Other parts include the heating units that ignite when your pilot light is operating. There are also gas lines, multiple connectors like screws and bolts, and a tank for holding your water. The tank also has a valve that allows you to let out sediment and dirty liquid.
  • Electric: Electric heaters work in a slightly different way, using electrical parts instead of fuel. These heaters may run a little more slowly, but they are often more efficient and require less repair than other Bosch types. Components used in an electric heater include electric coils for heating, breakers that protect against surges, wires that connect the electrical elements, and a multitude of adjustment systems. These adjustment dials allow you to change the heat level of your system by changing how much electricity flows through the heating coils.
  • Tankless: Tankless water heaters are small units that attach directly to your main water line and another component connects to your sink. When you want hot water, the unit will heat the water "on demand," providing hot water in moments after turning the valve on your faucet. You can also install them in-line with a larger source of hot water, like a hot water tank, to help the water heat up more quickly.
What causes parts to wear down?

As your heater operates, its components are likely to start wearing down on their own. This natural wear and tear will eventually cause failure. However, most elements are typically durable enough to last several years or even decades. If they start to fail sooner than that, there may be an issue that requires repair.

For example, the thermocouple on the pilot light may be starting to fail. When this happens, the pilot light will refuse to ignite, and your heater won't work correctly. In some instances, it can even cause your pilot to malfunction. When this happens, it is essential to buy replacement components for your heater.
