Whether you want to race around a dirt short course or articulate over a massive rock bed, Team Losi-branded RC vehicles can help you do that. You'll also find a wide selection of aftermarket parts that you can use to alter the look and feel to your liking. There is some information to keep in mind when deciding to buy a Losi RC roller or kit.

What is Losi?

Losi is a division of Horizon Hobby that focuses on RC vehicles. Team Losi is an aspect of that division and a brand with an emphasis on competitive RC racing. The team encompasses a lineup of professional racers who compete individually as well as part of the group. The vehicles that this company manufacturers include these:

  • Buggies
  • Race cars
  • Stadium trucks
  • Monster trucks
What’s the difference between a kit and a roller?

Team Losi-branded vehicles are available as either kits or rollers. Roller is another term for RTR or "ready to run or race." It means that very little to no assembly is required to use the vehicle. Kits, on the other hand, are wholly or partially disassembled and task hobbyists with the challenge of building their 2WD or 4WD vehicle piece by piece.

What’s the difference between electric and nitro-powered RC car?

Losi makes both electric and gas or nitro-powered RC racing vehicles. The electric options typically use rechargeable NiMH battery packs for power and an electronic speed control, or ESC, to regulate it. The fuel-based options tend to use a nitromethane-methanol mix, and power is regulated via a throttle servo connected to the carburetor.

Are all Team Losi vehicles for off-roading?

Off-road racing with 4WD and 2WD buggies and stadium trucks is the focus at Team Losi. The brand isn’t exclusive to that domain, however, and has made touring cars as well as 4WD monster trucks more suited to rock crawling and traversing challenging terrain. Also, note that while the buggies and stadium vehicles are off-road-oriented out of the box, they can be configured for the road and similar surfaces.

Are replacement and aftermarket parts available?

Yes. Practically all of the Losi parts included with a 2WD or 4WD kit or roller are sold separately so that you can replace them. There’s also a broad catalog of aftermarket parts and accessories available that you can use to tweak handling and performance to a particular surface. These items include the following:

  • Drivetrain parts
  • Engines and motors
  • Laydown accessories
  • Suspension components
