Filtros de Aceite Para Hyundai Sonata

Hyundai Sonata Oil Filters

The oil and oil filter in your car are two of many things that many car owners don’t tend to like they should. Oil keeps your metal parts lubricated and long-lasting, and the oil filter helps keep the oil clean and viscous.

Where is the oil filter on your Hyundai Sonata?

The oil filter on your Hyundai is located on the bottom of the vehicle, so you are going to have to go under your car or raise it to access it.

How do you change your oil filter?

To change an oil filter for your Sonata, you need to drain the old oil. The drain plug is located nearby. Have an oil pan or other catchment container on hand to catch the oil. Make sure it drains thoroughly before you change the filter, and use a rag to clean up any drips. After the motor oil drains, plug the drain and replace the cover. Use a special ratchet and strap to loosen and take out the filter. Make sure to remove the cans O-ring.

Put a bead of fresh oil around the top of the replacement filter can and simply screw it in by hand. You will not need a wrench. After you lower the Sonata or come out from under it, raise the hood, and refresh the oil. The lid of the tank will tell you what sort of oil to use. Then, start the Sonata, and let it run for a few minutes. Turn the engine off, let it sit for a minute or so, then read the dipstick. It should be at the full mark.

How often should you change the oil filter?

Some experts recommend that you change the filter whenever you have an oil change. Some experts say to change the filter every 7500 miles for a Hyundai Sonata if you drive normally, or every 3000 miles if you frequently drive in rough terrain.

What is an oil filter made of?

A Hyundai oil filter resembles a simple can, but it is surprisingly complex inside. To clean the motor oil, the inside of this oil filter can contain:

  • A tapping plate, which lets the engine oil in and out
  • Anti-drainback valve, which keeps the engine oil from backflowing into the oil filter when the engine is not running
  • A pleated oil filter medium, which is made of both natural and synthetic fibers that help clear the particulates out of the engine oil
  • A center tube, which allows the cleaned motor oil return to the engine; usually made of steel and has holes to prevent clogging
  • A relief valve, which opens when pressure forces a spring down and lets the used motor oil enter the top of the steel tube
  • An end disk, which keeps old oil from leaking into the tube
  • A retainer, which secures the medium and the end disc against the housing’s tapping plate
