PCGS Certified Palladium Bullions

High-Quality PCGS-Certified Palladium Coins and Bars for the Avid Collector

For coin collectors, coin type and issue important, but so is coin quality. Organizations like PCGS certify coins for quality, and high marks from them can add enormously to a coin's value. Through eBay, you cannot only buy gold and silver coins, but you can also purchase vintage PCGS-certified palladium bullion coins and bars to fill out a beautiful collection.

Types of PCGS-certified palladium bullion for sale

PCGS-certified palladium bullion for sale on eBay comes in two major forms: coins or bars. Coins are by far the more common form because PCGS and other grading services typically grade coins. The coins can be American Eagles, Canadian Maple Leaves, South African Krugerrands, British Tristan da Cunha coins, Chinese Pandas, Australian Emus, or some other type of coin. Typically, they are nearly all 1-ounce coins, although you may occasionally find 1/2-ounce coins for sale as well.

Palladium bars are most commonly available in 1-ounce, 5-ounce or 10-ounce forms. However, you may sometimes be able to find larger ones.

How do PCGS grading standards work?

PCGS, or the Professional Coin Grading Service, is one of the major services for grading rare or collectible coins. PCGS uses a numerical grading system that runs from 1 to 70. A PCGS grade of 1 indicates a coin with a date, type, and mint mark only just barely identifiable, whereas a coin with a grade of 70 is in virtually perfect condition and free of all abrasions and scratches. No imperfections can be detected on a grade 70 coin, even at up to 5x magnification. Some slight "as minted" imperfections are allowable on these coins, but they are imperfections arising from the minting process itself rather than from damage or wear.

In addition to numerical grades, PCGS also prefixes strike types to each coin, the most important of which are MS, PR, and SP. MS denotes a mint state coin that has never been in circulation. Only coins graded at 60 or higher are eligible for this prefix. PR refers to proofs, which are specially struck coins made specifically for collectors. Such coins are struck with slower-speed and higher-pressure presses, giving them more detailed designs. SP refers to specimens, which are hybrids of MS and PR coins. MS or PR coins are typically the most highly coveted and, thus, are the most expensive.

Price of palladium coins

The price of a palladium coin or other form of palladium bullion will vary depending on what the spot price of palladium happens to be at the time that you purchase the coin. Typically, you can buy an ordinary palladium coin like an American Eagle or a Canadian Maple Leaf for about 20% over the spot price of palladium, and the eBay listings will generally reflect this premium. However, if you're looking for a high-grade palladium coin, then you will typically have to pay anywhere from 1.5 to 2 times the spot price for such a coin. It is common, for example, to see PCGS-graded PR 70 palladium coins sell for about twice the palladium spot price. Such coins typically come in hermetically sealed containers to prevent any wear or damage from occurring to them.
